Today I attempted to finish Swiftris, but found that the brief instructions and complex code the tutorial was asking me to write was a bit too much for me at this stage. I headed over to Lynda and got through more than half their tutorial on Swift. The instructor explained concepts very thoroughly and I now have a much better understanding of optional variables, when to use ?, ! and ‘as’, and control flow. Tomorrow I hope to finish the Lynda tutorial and try my hand at Hacking with Swift, which was recommended to me by a couple other researchers I chatted with. The projects on Hacking with Swift seems give a lot of exposure to the GUI aspect of app development in Swift, so I hope that it will give me good practice with that and test me on what I’ve learned in Lynda.
